What Should You Do After an NLP Training?

Your NLP Training has come to an end, but what should you do next? I have seen a lot of my former Global NLP training students make different choices. Some of my students truly achieved mastery after an NLP training, and others apply the tools in their personal and professional lives but never enhance their skill set.

The following choices seek an outcome-based goal, and is not the best choice.

  1. Do another training immediately.
  2. Purchase and read books about NLP.
  3. Purchase and read books about personal development and coaching.

This may seem counterintuitive for a lot of people. Isn’t taking more training and studying more materials a good thing? This shows we bring our entire history of learning with us. In our traditional school environment, we learned to go to the next subject, the next book, and add more learning this way. We received praise from the adults who surrounded us and the feeling of accomplishment from passing another test and completing another book. We moved from subject to subject, widening our knowledge. But did we ever achieve mastery in this way? Many people have read books about NLP, but how many people truly mastered the materials?

Aside from our history of learning the NLP training, emotions can also get in the way. A feeling of anxiety or fear to apply NLP on others, for example, sometimes fueled by the idea that the anxiety will reduce if a person is perfect at NLP first before using it on complete strangers. The idea is that the more books I read and the more classes I attend, the more I will know, and the application process will be more straightforward. This is a false assumption.

What to do After an NLP Training?

My advice is slightly different for my own students than they are from other training companies. Sadly, the most known NLP training companies have manuals people struggle with, as these classes primarily focus on the unconscious installation of the materials and the manual is a mere side note. My advice is to purchase a good NLP training book online and use this book as a resource instead.

What Should Global NLP Training Students Do After an NLP Training?
For students who only have the NLP Training manual:

Start with the basics, like rapport!

  1. Read one topic in the manual and take notes.
  2. Split each topic into small bite-sized pieces.
  3. Observe each topic (where applicable) in others.
  4. Study each bite-size on your own.
  5. When something is a language-pattern, practice out loud.
  6. Apply each bite size in the real world.
  7. Create fun mini practice exercises for yourself.

What specifically is a bite-size? Examples:

  • Visual predicates.
  • Linguistically talk someone into leaving their first perceptual position to go into the third position.
  • Using the word “or” from the Milton model to create a force choice.
For students who purchased our NLP Training products:

Our entry products are:

  • NLP Practitioner videos.
  • NLP Practitioner language and magic, audio and PDF transcription.

I recommend you do the same thing as the students who only have the manual with one addition, because you truly have the ideal products to practice and hone your NLP skills. Then also do the following alongside:

  1. Watch the video about the selected bit-sized piece.
  2. Read the manual.
  3. Listen to the audio, until it starts locking into your brain.
Suggested Aids?
  1. Whiteboard markers and a whiteboard or bathroom mirror so you can see it in front of you.
  2. Post-it notes.
  3. Index cards.
  4. People you encounter in your day-to-day and need to have meetings and conversations with anyway.

These are essentially all the aids I used to hone my skills. spending time studying flashcards on the train, and 10 minutes a day practicing in front of the bathroom mirror the language patterns I learned in NLP training.
