EQ Training: Using NLP to Increase Your Emotional Intelligence

EQ training is often mentioned separately from NLP training, while really both go hand in hand. While NLP is the study of the successful, EQ is a scientific study to determine how people can increase their success. When we read Steven Covey’s habits of highly successful people, we see both NLP training and EQ training techniques beautifully married as part of his best-selling work.
While your IQ is fixed at birth, our EQ can increase.

What is EQ or Emotional Intelligence?
  1. EQ is about having awareness, understanding, and being able to read your emotions of yourself and those of others.
  2. Having an awareness of how to use emotions when it comes to our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with others.

It is, however, different from mastery which is achieved according to a scientific study by:

  • Devoting 10,000 hours
  • 10% = having the right teachers and circumstances
  • 20% = having talent
  • 70% = effort

But it is also not correlating with how happiness is achieved:

  • 40% = genetics
  • 10-20% = life circumstance
  • 40-50% = effort

We can, however, say that emotional intelligence is taught through exposure and effort, and our parents are a big piece of the puzzle. A big part of our emotional intelligence is taught by our parents, our different relationships, and how we lead our lives. I would venture to say this is where the truly emotional intelligent set themselves apart. Perhaps it is a conscious effort to improve it throughout a lifetime, personal development, training, reading, and learning. Not just officially but living our life consciously in a state of personal improvement, transformation, and going better when it comes to emotions.

One thing we are very proud of as a company is that we have found a way inside our NLP Master Practitioner to provide EQ training using NLP techniques.
While our IQ is fixed at birth, our EQ can increase.
