Who Uses NLP |
|
Like its related field of psychology, NLP can be used in many settings, situations and for different goals.
Personal Development and Success Despite being around since the 1970s, NLP became a huge success in Europe over the past few years, particularly in countries like the United Kingdom, and The Netherlands. Also in Australia the popularity of NLP continues to increase. Though it has had its steady number of followers in in the rest of the world, it is becoming the next "big thing" globally. Undoubtedly the NLP fever will hit the United States and other countries as it did England and Europe in its use for personal achievement, self growth, empowerment and success. NLP offers many tools which can be applied in many areas of personal development and success like: relationship building, managing emotional states, being in control over own mind, overcoming fears (including phobia’s), anxiety, resolving shame, grief, problem solving, achieving goals, creating positive change, and gaining self confidence. Most NLP students report that their training was a true life changing experience, well worth the investment, and then some. The trainers of the Global NLP Training Institute have been personally trained by Paul McKenna, among others. NLP is used in the following fields:
NLP can be used by any professional whom requires tools in advanced verbal and non-verbal communication, leadership, persuasion, influencing skills, negotiation, problem resolution and much more. Often NLP is accused to give an unfair advantage, even though NLP training can be taken by anyone. A staggering amount of business professionals are currently learning NLP, in order to increase their sales, improve their management skills, achieving goals and get the competitive edge. Or because they simply want to build better teams and relationships. Currently, 50% of the people whom take NLP training in London are business professionals, this is remarkable as courses were mainly filled by mental health professionals, and coaches in the past. NLP techniques are useful to manage your own mind, and influencing that of others. We find that many business professionals also receive benefit on a personal level in terms of self growth, managing their emotional states and stress. NLP is used for therapeutic reasons by:
NLP is used world wide by traditional and alternative therapists. NLP was originally developed by extrapolating tools and techniques that made some of the top psychiatrists in the world successful: Virginia Satir (founder of family therapy), Fritz Perls (founder of gestalt therapy), and Milton Erickson (renowned American Hypnotherapist, founder of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychopathological Association.) All three were known to achieve rapid and astounding changes with their clients. NLPs developers personally studied these giants of american psychology, to develop the models and techniques that NLP uses. Unlike traditional therapy NLP focuses on the “how” instead of “why.” Its aim is to change how the brain codes experience, instead forcing a client to re-live and get to the bottom of their (traumatic) past. Naturally, even for a trained psychologist or psychiatrist NLP is invaluable addition to their skill set. NLP is used for coaching by:
NLP provides an invaluable tool set for any coach, working with clients to achieve success, facilitating change, making decisions, motivation, self growth, overcoming habits and addiction etc. A lot of coaches rely on (life) experience alone, or have received a coaching certification that focuses largely around coaching processes and methodologies. NLP operates on a different realm, it teaches specific tool sets, and intervention techniques. It also teaches students advanced forms of verbal and non-verbal communication that will help to elicit information, inspire, motivate, persuade and install change. It also provides tools to resolve fears, anxiety and phobia’s. NLP is used by the following educators:
NLP provides techniques to enhance memory, accelerate and promote learning. It gives powerful tools to achieve rapport and building trust with your students rapidly. NLP teaches how to provide leadership, motivation and inspiration to your students, it makes any learning fun. You can be that teacher whom will never be forgotten by your students, guiding them through change, problem resolution, and decisions. And you’ll learn the potential of your own resources, becoming a more effective, inspirational, and powerful teacher!
Anthony Robbins (Tony Robbins) Warning! Though Brown uses NLP and/or hypnosis, he doesn't use it exclusively, part of his game is just classic trickery, presentation, showmanship, and audience impact. Derren Brown gained popularity in England with his TV program “Derren Brown – Mind Control”, and “Trick of the Mind.” Where sometimes eleborate mind tricks were shown on TV. Brown, gained even more followers once several of his performances were put on youtube.com. Most known perhaps are “Russian Roulette” where Brown was to read the mind of the participant whom loaded a bullet in a single chamber of a hand gun. “Séance” where Brown pulled off a recreation of a séance being able to “guess” details of departed loved ones, including their names and other characteristics. And “Messiah” where Brown convinced 5 leading figures he had powers within their field: psychic powers, contacting the dead, christian evangelism, new age theories, and alien abduction. Next to NLP, Derren Brown uses waking hypnosis, mentalism, and psychological illusion.
"Your mind does not know the difference between fantasy and reality, so what you picture in your mind, the body can achieve!"
Other known media and celebrities It is unlikely those celebrities will expose themselves, nor will their private tutors and coaches as a courtesy and code of ethics. Many celebrities, politicians and other figures in the media are being coached by NLP trained Master Practitioners.
