Trainer's Statement

My life has been a collage of experience.  From working in the corporate, legal and non-profit professions, to fulfilling my roles as father, son, and friend, there have been two underlying aspects that have been ever present, although not always apparent.  Coaching and Positive Change.  I think this is why I identify with so many of our students.

I have been on a lifelong search for the “perfect” career.  Since my late teens, I have been a student (“junkie”) of self-help literature.  I have always felt that I should do something that would make a difference in the world, and felt that everyone has the innate capacity for excellence and personal development.  I was raised a Christian, and my mom was my role model of faith.  As a family we faced many difficult situations, including alcoholism, and difficult emotional and economic situations, as well as joyous times when we overcame those difficult situations. Throughout all of the challenges and successes, my mom demonstrated a profound love and faith that is a part of my core being to this day.

 Throughout my life, I have realized that the search for the perfect career was actually a journey.  Where I am today is a result of my experience of dealing with all of the various challenges and the realization of personal successes.  Taking a panoramic view of my experiences, both personal and professional, has helped me realize the meaning and purpose in my life…

 “Coaching, training and making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and the world are what constitute my purpose in life.  Being able to facilitate positive change and growth with individuals and in all that I do is my primary focus.  I look forward to each and every day, for the opportunity of helping others to fulfill their dreams, and in the process fulfill my own.”

Discovering purpose and meaning is the journey.  Reflecting on my life, a dedication to personal positive change, having critical relationships in my life (which includes a host of coaches, although they might not have known that’s what they were called), and my desire for learning, have all played significant roles in their realization.  I have learned how much all of these people and experiences contributed to the person who I am.

One of the most profound teachings that I have learned in my life was a quote by Victor Frankl in A Man’s Search for Meaning.  “As each situation in life represents a challenge to man and presents a problem for him to solve, the question of the meaning of life may actually be reversed. Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.”

With that, each situation and person I encounter asks of me the question “how am I to respond?”  I further ask, “how…with all of my life’s experience…can I be of service with this individual or circumstance.”  That is what directs me, and my underlying core value of peace guides me.

I realized that my desire in life is to teach people personal freedom and inner power.  All of my experiences have led me on that path, both personally and professionally. My position with Global NLP Training has given me the opportunity to fulfill that calling.  I see personal transformation take place during the course, and have the satisfaction of knowing that I was able to have a positive impact on a student’s life.  Also knowing that by teaching the coaching skills that allows our students to have that same impact on their future clients, gives me the lasting satisfaction that I am making a real difference in the world.
