Where does NLP come from

Where does NLP come from? It comes from Santa Cruz (California, USA.)

Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied several therapists orginally to devise what they called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP.)

Psychology: Fritz Perls (Gestalt Therapy), and Virginia Satir (Family Therapy), and Milton Erickson (Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.) Also some of the more sane (hah!) elements to Freudian psychology can be found, and Pavlovs stimulus response (ring a bell and the dog will sallivate.)

Linguistics: Milton Erickson (Hypnotic language), Alfred Korsybski (language in relation to maps, coding, and our personal reality), Noam Chomsky (surface structure, deep structure, maps, presuppositions in language.)

Computer Programming: running programs in our brain, levels of abstraction, chunking, delete, distort, generalize.

There are a number of other possible sources that John Grinder and Richard Bandler have used, but the above are the most important ones.

I hope that answers the question “where does NLP come from?”
