Tips for starting a life coaching business: Introduction

We get the same questions all the time, so we will blog more about any tips we have to give in terms of starting your own life coaching business, or starting a coaching business in general. Some of these tips may seem really obvious, but even the obvious gives the greatest of insights.

Lets start with a few simplest tips to start your on life coach business, or coaching business in general.

Tip 1:  Life coaching has to be what you love. Your clients will know, when your heart is not in it. And you won’t be in top form, to help your client in the best way. Besides how can you advise your client to be the best they can be and do what they love, if you are not? I you love life coaching, then the best tip I can if you is that starting a life coaching business is what you must do!

Tip 2: Owning your own business has to be what you love. Though life coaching may be the thing for you, is starting and owning your own business? This means doing and experiencing on a daily basis what it is like to own your own business. Your life will not just be coaching the entire week, you have to run a business as well. This means spending a lot of time acquiring clients, keeping books, managing the office and of course risk etc. Initially you’ll likely not be able to outsource all these tasks. This is all worth it though, if you absolutely love to be a life coach. But be advised this will be hard work when you just are just starting your own life coaching business.

Tip 3: Don’t do it without training. Well as an owner of next to a coaching also a training business, this may sound self serving. But I can not say it enough. Life coaching is a profession. If you want to be good life coach you should consider it as such. I am sure you are excellent and experienced at what you do now, and you may help and motivate people around you real well, have a lot of life experience, or read a lot of self help books. Coaching is not something that only has to come natural, you have to be properly educated. For the same reason that we send naturally skilled teachers -whom surely can write and count- to school to learn how to be an elementary school teacher. Luckely there are many good life coaching certification training schools around, but beware where you decide to take your program. Besides in starting a life coaching business you have to be better then your competition, training is a way to do that.
