Any well formed NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner should have at its core a continual focus on well formed outcomes. Whether in the area of Business Coaching, Life Coaching or NLP therapy, the notion of a well formed outcome must be kept in the forefront of any process or application. 

The first task presented to the Life/Business Coach lies in guiding our clients into the notion of exactly what a well formed outcome is.  Whether in the business or personal world, the tendency of human beings is to be immersed in the problem or “what’s wrong” phase of human existence.  By pacing a client from their perceptual position of what’s wrong and then leading them to new possibilities or solutions, we empower people to shift their entire subjective experience of the world to that of a more resourceful position.  More often then not, clients come to us as absolute authorities on the areas of their lives that are not as they would like them to be, and have spent little or no time constructively imagining what it is they want their experience to be.

NLP offers specific skill sets to coach our clients initially through the process of forming a rich image of a solution to the problems they face in the form of exactly what they want their experience to be.  NLP uses all representational systems to build as rich an experience of life as possible, using all five of our senses to immerse then shift our clients into the “as if” frame of empowering resources.

Once we have shifted our clients from the “what’s wrong” phase to the “as if” frame, we can then use the remainder of our NLP arsenal to actually motivate our clients to take specific actions to accomplish their goals and solve their perceived problems.  Final word of advice: never assume your business or life coaching client knows what they want.  Always start with and stay with well formed outcomes.
