How to make good decisions
How to make good decisions, is not something you likely have ever been formally taught. While you should have. A crucial factor in making good decision is considering more then just one perspective. Instead of just thinking about how a decision will affect just you. Or for the givers among us, just someone else.
Next time you make a decision consider this:
Think about the decision you need to make. But do so from your own perspective. What will your decision do for you? What will happen to you? How will it make you feel? What will you hear and see?
Now think about the same decision again. But review it from someone elses perspective whom is also affected by your decision. Pretend to be this person. Step in to his/her/their shoes. What will happen? How do you feel, what do you see and hear in someone elses shoes? How does the decision you in the position of someone elses shoes.
Now think about the same decision again, but in the shoes of a neutral observer. Looking at yourself and the people around you affected by your decision. As a neutral observer what do you think about the decision?
Considering a decision from these three perspectives may result in a completely different outcome then considering it just from a single perspective. I hope this article will help you to make good decisions in future.
