Teaching: The Ultimate Learning Tool

The phrase “we teach what we most need to learn” is often used as a sort of covert put down.  It might be used to suggest that anyone who puts themselves forward as a teacher must in some way be covering up for their own inadequacies.  In spite of this school of thought, I know of no better way to truly master a skill or subject then to teach it to someone else.
